A once overly open basement has undergone a remarkable conversion into its own apartment on the ground level of this split level home. Enhancements include a new kitchenette and dining area, a revamped living room with fireplace feature wall, an entry closet, an enclosed laundry room, a bathroom accessible from both the bedroom and living area, as well as a private enclosed bedroom.

Apart from introducing a few new windows and adjusting their placements as needed, another tactic employed in the new design to maintain sufficient brightness in the basement involved installing frosted glass relites in the bathroom and laundry room.
